Boost your Child Learning Experience with these 3 steps

One of the major complain from most of the students and their parents is, “my child takes too much of time to learn things or find it difficult to study.”

Do you also feel the same? If YES then this blog can be of great help.

Why someone fails to learn or understand anything?

When a person is unable to create the representation (image) of the content in the inner world then they find it difficult to learn or understand that subject or topic.

1. When the person is unable to understand the end benefit/ result of the learning then they fail to develop interest and as a result fail to develop the representation within.

a. Solution: Ideally it is the responsibility of the teachers at school & parents at home to ensure that “Why?” should be answered to the child before any learning starts. You should tell the child how he will be benefited in life from the topic and the logic behind the learning should be told. If this is done then you can expect better result.

b. Real life example: When I was a student, I never use to understand geography. I asked my teacher why we should learn geography and the answer was, “It’s a 100 marks paper.” My reason for the same was the fact that I am not going to be a farmer, so why should I learn about crops and required conditions for the same. Later during my early teaching career I had to read geography again and this time I enjoyed it. This time I was supposed to teach Commodity Markets to my course participants and since price of the commodity depends on the weather conditions and other related factors. This time I was aware that how geography will help me in my life. I feel only this factor helped be to learn better and faster.

2. Emotional stress: if the person is going through emotional stress then the concentration will be diverted and hence will affect the representation within.

a. Solution: There are ways to overcome the stress yourself. You may wish to read my other related blog on stress management (https://www.lifecoachlokesh.com/blogdetails/How-to-Manage-and-Reduce-Stress). If you are still unable to overcome emotional stress yourself then ideally you should consult a life coach or psychologist for help.

3. Know your learning preference: Every human learn through (4) four different ways i.e. visual, auditory, kinesthetic and inner conversation (logic). If the person don’t know their primary method of learning then it might be difficult for them to learn faster.

a. Solution:

a.i. Step 1: Identify your primary & secondary learning method. Take a free test now to know your primary learning method:

a.ii. Step 2: Learn as per your primary or secondary learning method. Details are given below:

  1. Visual: those who have visual as primary source of learning should involve more of images or videos in their learning to have better learning experience. If visuals are not available then should close the eyes are build imaginary visuals of the same. This will create powerful representation for the person and the content will become a part of their experience.

  2. Auditory: those who are auditory should either focus more on audio sound. If sound is not available then can also talk to someone and listen to them. This will help them. At the end if both the above options are not available then ideally should close the eyes and imagine the sound to have powerful representation within for long term learning experience.

  3. Kinesthetic: those who are kinesthetic have to ensure that they feel the content with imagination. Once they do so it will become a part of their experience.

  4. Inner Conversation/ Logic: those who are having this as their primary learning method should focus on inner conversation with self with the help of having question & answer with self or others to make a better representation within.

I am sure by following these 3 simple points a person can have an amazing learning experience.

Just remember, instead of learning anything it’s better to experience them through our senses and once done, it becomes a part of your experience and you remember it forever.

This video (in HINDI) can also help you to know some more ways to learn anything faster.

In a class room of 30-50 students or more it’s difficult to know who is having which learning method as prime learning preference. In fact you have different people having different learning preference. In this situation you can use an amazing formula named KAVA technique for better learning experience for students.

What is KAVA technique?

You should start your session with a statement which has first kinesthetic then auditory, then visual and finally logic. For example I might start the session with “Since you can FEEL how cold it is today and can HEAR the noise of traffic outside. Now you can SEE that we are starting the topic and since you will be concentrating in the class so you will understand the reasons and logic behind the whole subject.

The idea is to ensure that during the session you use different words or tools which activate the respective mode of learning and help a person create better representation.

We specialize in helping schools & colleges through Teachers Training Program to implement such innovative & modern techniques to ensure better learning experience for their students. To know more about this you may write to us at info@lifecoachlokesh.com
